Q : Can items provided by the client
be embedded?
A: Yes, they can. We recommend however that the client get in touch
with an account executive to obtain more details on the way to proceed.
Q : How many items should be provided
in excess of the quantity ordered?
A: It is suggested to provide at least 10% more than the final quantity
required.
Q : Are the items provided for
embedment by the client guaranteed?
A: No, these items cannot be guaranteed. It is therefore advisable
to have BCH Unique replicate them whenever possible.
Q : Is there any risk when embedding
precious or rare objects, such as a childhood souvenir, a family
heirloom, or a Super Bowl ticket?
A: Since the results are too unpredictable, BCH Unique does not
encourage clients to proceed this way nor does it guarantee this
type of embedment.
Q : Can the client provide his
own cards for embedment and what is the procedure in this case?
A: The client has to make sure he uses heat-resistant ink. BCH Unique,
however, does not guarantee the results for these cards. We can
proceed with a free in-house test prior to production.
Q : Why perform an in-house test?
A: To confirm whether an item can be embedded in acrylic. However,
such a test does not necessarily ensure the desired result in the
pieces ordered. Since there is no guarantee on any items supplied
by the client, it is advisable to have BCH Unique replicate them
whenever possible.
Q : How much does an in-house test
cost?
A: There is no charge for this test, unless the item to embed requires
a great deal of acrylic.
Q : Is a speculative sample
free?
A: No, there are charges equivalent to the cost of a unit plus all
the inherent setup charges, such as those for silk and laser setup.
Q : What are the regular turnaround
times?
A: As a rule, a sample takes 6 production days, and an order
requires 10 to 12 production days following its approval. These
figures can vary according to quantity.
Q : Do you do rush orders?
A: Yes, and BCH Unique informs the client of the charge related
to this service upon receiving all the necessary items.
Q : How should artwork be
sent to BCH Unique?
A: BCH Unique has prepared a document,
which outlines how to send artwork efficiently
Q : What are the options available
for personalizing acrylic pieces?
A: Printing on acetate and laser engraving.
Q : What is the best way of providing
BCH Unique with the names to personalize acrylic awards?
A: The names can be faxed or sent by email using Excel.
Q : How can BCH Unique match a
color for printing?
A: BCH Unique is equipped to develop a color match for its clients
by using a sample of the chosen color or its coded reference number
from the PMS™ chart.
Q : Is there a charge for a color
match in printing?
A: No, BCH Unique can match any color from the PMS™ chart without
any charge to the client.
Q : Do the printing colors
change after the embedment process?
A : Yes, slightly.
Q : What's the difference between
an acetate and a paper insert?
A: Both are printing substrates, which differ by the fact that the
acetate is a transparency that produces the illusion that its printing
is floating within the acrylic piece while the white paper insert
does not yield this effect.
Q : Is it possible to match acrylic
to any color from the Pantone™ chart?
A: Yes, except for metallic colors. Matching colors is an intricate
task, which in some cases does not yield the intended color exactly
but match it as close as possible.
Q : What is the required space
between the embedment and the edge of the piece?
A: There must always be at least ¼" (6 mm) of acrylic at this
place.
Q : What is the tolerance for
the dimensions of an award and a recognition item?
A: A variation of ± 1/8" (3 mm) can be expected from one
piece to another.
Q : Do you sell metal castings
without their being embedded?
A: No, our metal castings are sold for embedding into our acrylic
products only.
Q : Can glass vials contain oil
provided by the client? Are you able to produce any color of liquid
for the vials?
A: We must conduct some preliminary tests on oil provided by the
client. If this oil is not suitable, we are always able to match
its color.
Q : What is the best way of
cleaning an acrylic item?
A: It is best to use a mild detergent in warm water and to wipe
the piece with a soft cloth.
Q : What is the standard allowance
for overruns and underruns?
A: In the industry, the standard is ±5%.
Q : Where are you located?
A: Our factory is located in St. Martin, Québec, Canada and we operate
a warehouse in Jackman, Maine, USA. We suggest our American clients
send their documents to our US address.
Q : Is there a potential for problems
at customs when the product bought in Canada is shipped to the United
States by BCH Unique?
A: No, since all the products destined for the United States are
F.O.B. Maine.
